WHEREAS, the National Academy of Engineering, founded in 1964, is a nonprofit institution providing engineering leadership in service to the nation by promoting technological advances and deploying the expertise and insights of their members; and
WHEREAS, on Wednesday, April 20 Nadine Aubry will be inducted into the National Academy of Engineering for her pioneering achievements and scholarship in low-dimensional models of turbulence and microfluidic devices and for leadership in engineering education; and
WHEREAS, Nadine Aubry serves as Raymond J. Lane Distinguished Professor and head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University; and
WHEREAS, Nadine Aubry's research has applications in a wide variety of fields essential to our way of life including aerospace, biotechnology, energy, the environment, materials engineering, and nanotechnology; and
WHEREAS, the achievements of scholars and professionals like Ms. Aubry continue to propel Pittsburgh forward as a leader in science, technology, and education.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby honor the contributions and achievements of 2011 National Academy of Engineering Inductee Nadine Aubry; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare April 20, 2011 "Nadine Aubry Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
