Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh congratulates and commends the Clean Pittsburgh Commission for its dedication and planning of the Great PA Cleanup Volunteer Recognition Party.

WHEREAS, The Great PA Cleanup Volunteer Recognition Party is to show appreciation for the hard work of the volunteers who participated in the Great PA Cleanup, which is an ambitious statewide effort to remove litter and trash from the state's roadways, park, riverbanks and open spaces; and
 
WHEREAS, The Great PA Cleanup Volunteer Recognition Party is hosted by the Clean Pittsburgh Commission, a network of city departments, non-profits, Waste Management, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, individuals, and community groups all working to improve the environmental quality of life for Pittsburgh residents; and
 
WHEREAS, The Volunteer Recognition Party will have an estimated 450 participants who partook in the day's cleanup events and who have proudly provided an immediate visible impact to our communities; and  
 
WHEREAS, The Great PA Cleanup Volunteer Recognition Party will encourage the volunteers to relax, sit back and enjoy a free lunch, live entertainment, games, and giveaways; and
 
WHEREAS, The Great PA Cleanup Volunteer Recognition Party will take place on Saturday, April 22, 2006 from Noon until 4:00 p.m. at the Vietnam Veterans Pavilion on Overlook Drive in Schenley Park.
