WHEREAS, the “First Freitag” sidewalk market and party will occur on East Ohio Street in the Deutschtown neighborhood of Pittsburgh’s Northside, from 3:30 P.M. to 8 P.M. every first Friday of this summer, on June 4, July 2, and August 6, 2021; and

WHEREAS, East Ohio Street businesses will set up shop on the sidewalk areas in front of their storefronts, and businesses located elsewhere will utilize space in front of unutilized storefronts and lots on East Ohio Street or place signage on East Ohio Street directing patrons and visitors to their businesses; and
WHEREAS, there is no cost for businesses, patrons, or visitors to participate in “First Freitag,” and businesses are encouraged to use sidewalk space in any legal manner that shall promote the vibrancy of the business district on East Ohio Street; and
WHEREAS, “First Freitag” will encourage residents of Deutschtown, the Northside, and all of Pittsburgh, to explore this major city neighborhood, shop at our businesses, engage with our organizations, and discover the promise of the East Ohio Street business district; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh declares the first Fridays of June, July, and August 2021 “First Freitag Day” here in our most livable city of Pittsburgh.
