Title: NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize Karen Egorin, Twyla Sable, Dena Chottiner, Christine Stone and Lynne Garfinkel for their dedication and hard work to promote and support the Silent Witness Initiative and Sheila's Shawls to educate the community about the eradication of domestic violence.

WHEREAS, the National Council of Jewish Women, Pittsburgh Section, has been on the cutting edge of social change and community service since its inception over 100 years ago; and,
 
WHEREAS, the National Council of Jewish Women , Pittsburgh Section, has taken a leadership role and become the "go-to" organization in the community to raise awareness regarding domestic violence through groundbreaking programs , and,
 
WHEREAS, the women of NCJW have distinguished themselves through their dedication and commitment to educate the community about domestic violence through the Silent Witness Initiative and Shelia's Shawls, and,
 
WHEREAS; the Silent Witness Initiative is a traveling exhibit of life size wooden  figures painted red representing women who were killed in acts of domestic violence in Allegheny County, and,
 
WHEREAS, the Sheila Shawls Project was created to honor the memory of Sheila Wellstone who was killed in a plane crash with her husband, Sen. Paul Wellstone. She worked tirelessly to reduce domestic violence in our country and the project creates hats, scarves, mittens and shawls to be worn by women and children who reside in shelters, and,
