Body
Whereas, the Pittsburgh Interfaith Impact Network (PIIN) will host its second annual banquet, themed "Still Pursuing the Dream," on Saturday, February 26, 2005 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., at the Omni William Penn Hotel, where it will present its keynote speaker, well known civil rights activist, founder of the Upward Bound initiative, Reverend C.T. Vivian; and

Whereas, PIIN is an organization whose member organizations represent a diversity of faiths which collectively serve as a source of power on behalf of the community-at-large; and

Whereas, PIIN assists individual congregations with onsite congregational and leadership development, pursues change by presenting solutions to public policy makers in public forum on issues that affect the good quality of life in our communities, fosters alliances with other groups to effect economic equity in neighborhoods throughout our state; and

Whereas, among many accomplishments in 2004, PIIN has: garnered a consensus with the Allegheny County Chief Executive that Tax Increment Financing (TIF) should be used for revitalizing distressed communities, received the support of five Allegheny County legislators to work for passage of dedicated funding for public transportation, established a collaborative of organizations to work with Allegheny County on an action plan to eliminate barriers to fair and affordable housing, and is currently working with Congressional representatives from the region for humane reform of immigration policy; and

Whereas, PIIN sets high annual goals and demonstrates action with no exception in 2004, thereby it cultivates a high standard for 2005 as it continues to build up the communities of Pittsburgh, true to its motto, "Where faith meets action there is great power."
