Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does recognize and commend Billy Porter for his uplifting and tireless work and achievements in the entertainment business. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare, Tuesday, April 19, 2005 as "Billy Porter Day".

Whereas, Pittsburgh native, Billy Porter, star of stage, screen and recording artist has returned home to star in his musical autobiography, "Ghetto Superstar" at Pittsburgh's City Theater.
 
Whereas, Billy Porter  is a dynamic and energetic native of Pittsburgh having attended Reizenstein Middle School, Taylor Alderdice and CAPA High School, and earning a B.F. A. in Drama from Carnegie Mellon University; and
 
Whereas, Billy Porter's incredible talent and charisma has earned him the privilege to perform in such Broadway shows as Miss Saigon, Grease, Smoky Joe's CafĂ©, Five Guys Named Moe, and Dreamgirls, along with a number of Off Broadway shows.  In conjunction with his impressive acting ability, Billy Porter is a powerful singer with a debut solo CD, Untitled on A & M Records.  His concert credits also include opening acts for Aretha Franklin at Carnegie Hall and Rosie O'Donnell; and
 
Whereas, Billy Porter offers his time and support to the community, performing for various AIDS Benefits and mentoring Students in the "Drama World".  He has graced Pittsburgh's City Theater with his wonderfully imaginative show entitled Top Dog/ Under Dog and his newest performance, Ghetto Superstar (The Man That I Am), based on his life starting out in Pittsburgh's Homewood neighborhood; and
