WHEREAS, The Pittsburgh Chapter for Women in Bio is a non-profit organization working to support emerging women leaders in the life sciences of Western Pennsylvania, Eastern Ohio, and West Virginia; and,
WHEREAS, Women in Bio is an organization of professionals who volunteer their time and are committed to promoting careers, leadership, and entrepreneurship for all women in the life sciences; and,
WHEREAS, Women in Bio members reflect the increasing spread of the life sciences, and have careers within biotech and pharma companies, universities and institutions, law and accounting firms, marketing and PR firms, CROs, and CMOs; and,
WHEREAS, Women in Bio promotes entrepreneurship, innovation, education, and mentorship among women across our region; and,
WHEREAS, through the Women in Bio-Pittsburgh chapter, women can connect and network with industry peers, and are exposed to various opportunities for women to reach their highest potential within their field and professional development; and,
WHEREAS, Women in Bio-Pittsburgh will be hosting the 12th Annual Pittsburgh’s Outstanding Women Entrepreneurs Rally (P.O.W.E.R) event focusing on the role of Robotics in Biotech on October 2nd, 2024; and,
WHEREAS, the organization’s platform has generated innovative ideas and has fostered diversity at the highest levels of leadership within these industries which has directly impacted the talent and economic development across our regional ecosystem; and,
WHEREAS, it is with great pride and honor that the City of Pittsburgh hereby recognizes October 2nd, 2024 to be Women in Bio Day here in the City of Pittsburgh.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does commend the Women in Bio Pittsburgh chapter on its innovative and economic impact within our community.
