Title: WHEREAS located at 2025 Bentley Drive in Pittsburgh's Hill District, the Louis Mason high-rise provides both disabled individuals and low-income senior citizens with affordable and quality housing; and WHEREAS built and named in 1965, this Pittsburgh Housing Authority high-rise was dedicated to Pittsburgh City Councilman Louis Mason who sat on City Council from April 10, 1967 through March 14, 1977, while additionally serving as Council President from December 14, 1970 through March 14, 1977; and WHEREAS currently, the Lou Mason building houses 106 City of Pittsburgh residents, with many of these residents serving as dedicated members of the Lou Mason Tenant Council; and WHEREAS in the next few months, 72 of these 106 residents will be moving to the new, "Legacy" high-rise which will be located at 2121 Centre Avenue; and WHEREAS this transition to the Legacy will be made much smoother thanks to all of the committed efforts of the Lou Mason Tenant Council and the long-time ...

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby wish to commend the level of personal investment and commitment as exhibited by members of the Lou Mason Tenant Council and all long-time Lou Mason residents.
 
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby wish to declare Friday, May 18th, 2007, "Lou Mason High-Rise Resident Appreciation Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
