Title: WHEREAS, The Priory is located on the North Side in Council District One; and, is celebrating their 20th Anniversary as a successful small business; founded by Edward and Mary Ann Graf who purchased the property which contained St. Mary's Priory and St. Mary's German Catholic Church now known as Pittsburgh's Grand Hall; and, has since established Priory Fine Pastries; and, Mrs. Graf was named the Entrepreneur of the Year by the YWCA on June 1, 1988; and, WHEREAS, in 1888, The Priory was added to serve as a home for Benedictine Priests and brothers serving the Parish, and is recognized worldwide as an historical landmark; and is now "an elegant, 24-room European-style boutique hotel with a certain quiet and peaceful charm, "as reported in the "Cityscape: Pittsburgh Magazine," and, WHEREAS, Pittsburgh's Grand Hall at The Priory and The Priory Hotel were featured in an episode of the nationally televised program "Home Delivery," and, WHEREAS, The New York Times chose The Priory...

WHEREAS, The Priory has partnered with a variety of cultural and performing arts organizations, retailers and restaurants to create a variety of getaway packages which includes: The Cultural District, Discover the Strip, Explore the North Shore, Pirate Ball, Romance, Romance and Sax and the City; and,

WHEREAS, in January 2003, the mantel of the Priory Tradition was passed to the next generation when John and Suzanne Graf, purchased this historic Pittsburgh hotel and landmark from Ed and Mary Ann. They have vowed to continue the Priory's grand tradition of making sure that each and every guest is treated as an individual whose needs will be promptly met.
