• Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh extends its gratitude and applauds the efforts of our citizens who serve in the Navy; and, further, does hereby proclaim the week of July 1-8, 2006, as Navy Week in Pittsburgh.

Whereas, the confluence of three of our Country's mightiest rivers meet historically connecting our nation and its industry by ship, boat, and barge; and

Whereas, from its earliest settlement, Pittsburgh has had a rich and admirable maritime history which has been honored by two U.S. Navy ships; and

Whereas, the City of Pittsburgh is home to so many active duty, reservists, veterans, Sea Cadets and NROTC members; and

Whereas, the Navy has become such an important part of this City's Independence Day, with its development of an annual week-long celebration and appreciation of service to our City, County, State and Country.
