Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and commend Reverend Michael Murray, Sr. for his commitment to his congregation and his community and congratulates him on his 16 years as a Reverend.

WHEREAS, John Quincy Adams once said, "If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader."  Reverend Michael Murray Sr. personifies this definition of leadership.
 
WHEREAS, Reverend Michael Murray, Sr. was licensed and ordained in September of 1991, and has faithfully served as a Pastor of the Second Baptist Church in McKees Rocks since January of 1996; and
 
WHEREAS, Reverend Michael Murray, Sr. goes above and beyond his responsibilities as a Pastor to serve the residents City of Pittsburgh and the Hazelwood community where he was born and raised; and
 
WHEREAS, an employee of the Pennsylvania Water and Sewer Authority, Secretary for the 15th Ward Democratic Committee and a Board Member of the Hazelwood Initiative, Reverend Michael Murray, Sr. is a respected leader; and
 
WHEREAS, Reverend Michael Murray, Sr. continually strives to improve the lives of the next generation by providing mentorship, guidance and recreational activities to children as the Founder and President of the Hazelwood Youth Mentorship and Athletic Association; and
 
WHEREAS, on Sunday 20, 2012, a celebration will be held in honor of Reverend Michael Murray Sr. commemorating his 16th year as the Pastor of the Second Baptist Church.
