Title: NOW, THEREFORE, Ed Gainey, Mayor of the City of Pittsburgh, and R. Daniel Lavelle, President of the Council, do hereby proclaim Wednesday, April 10, 2024, "Cameron "Cam" Heyward Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Cameron "Cam" Heyward has received the National Football League's (NFL) highest honor, the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award. The award was established in 1970 and renamed in 1999 after the late Hall of Fame Chicago Bears running back Walter Payton. The Walter Payton Man of the Year Award recognizes an NFL player for their excellence on and off the field; and

WHEREAS, Cameron "Cam" Heyward was born on May 6, 1989, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and is among the most respected names in the National Football League. Throughout his 13-year career, he has been deeply involved in helping the community and always using his platform for good. Throughout his distinguished career, Cam has exemplified the highest standards of professionalism, compassion and
consistently going above and beyond the call of duty, providing life-changing care and support to the youth of our beloved city; and

WHEREAS, Specifically, Cam was commended by the Pittsburgh Steelers and now the league for his year-round charitable endeavors, such as his annual Cam's Kindness Week, where he reaches out to different groups in the community daily. Cam's selflessness and tireless efforts undoubtedly profoundly impact the lives of countless youth, students, young men, and their families. He has accomplished this by exhibiting an unyielding commitment to future generations of our children; and

WHEREAS, Cameron "Cam" Heyward attended Peachtree Ridge High School in Suwanee, Georgia, was a standout in college playing for the Ohio State Buckeyes, and was a first-round pick of the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2011. Since his tenure with the Pittsburgh Steelers, he has been defined by his exceptional leadership, inspiring and guiding his teammates with resolution, determination, and a strong will to be successful. The power of his leadership is rooted in the values and the character-building principles instilled in him by his parents; and
