Title
Resolution authorizing the Mayor and the Director of Public Works to enter into a cooperative agreement for the improvement of the existing Southside Riverfront Park access facilitites for recreational boats, with the Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission.
Body
WHEREAS, the City of Pittsburgh and the Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission have determined jointly that the present boat launching facilities at Southside Riverfront Park are outdated and inadequate; and
WHEREAS, the City and the Commission have agreed conceptually on the physical characteristics of a new boat docking and boat launching layout; and
WHEREAS, the City and the Commission have entered into a cooperative agreement dated October 28, 2004, outlining their respective obligations; and
WHEREAS, the Commission has procured federal funds from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service as part of the USFWS's Boating Infrastructure Grant (BIG) Program; and
WHEREAS, the Commission wishes to pass the said funds on to the City; and
WHEREAS, the City, for its part, has agreed to accept the said funds; and
WHEREAS, the City, in order to implement the said improvements, has further agreed to assume the responsibility of managing the design phase and construction phase.
NOW, THEREFORE, the parties hereto wish to enter into a cooperation agreement to set forth their respective responsibilities.
Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Pittsburgh as follows:
Section 1. The Mayor and the Director of the Department of Public Works, on behalf of the City of Pittsburgh, are hereby authorized to enter into a second cooperative agreement for the improvement of the existing Southside Riverfront Park access facilitites for recreational boats, with the Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission, in form and substance approved by the City Solicitor.
