WHEREAS, Rick Earle has dedicated more than three decades to journalism in Western Pennsylvania, beginning his career at Channel 11 in 1994, and has since become one of the region's most trusted and respected voices in local news; and
WHEREAS, during his 31-year career, Rick Earle has reported on some of the most significant and defining moments in our region's history, including the tragic crash of Flight 427 in Hopewell Township, the events surrounding Flight 93 on September 11, 2001, the miraculous rescue of the Quecreek miners, and the unprecedented global COVID-19 pandemic; and
WHEREAS, for the past 25 years, Rick Earle has covered City government, leading the Channel 11 investigative team as Chief Investigator, where his commitment to accountability and public service journalism has resulted in new state laws, criminal investigations, and meaningful reforms that have improved the lives of countless Pennsylvanians; and
WHEREAS, Rick Earle is widely recognized for holding those in positions of power accountable, advocating for transparency in government, and giving a voice to those who might otherwise go unheard; and
WHEREAS, throughout his distinguished career, Rick Earle has received numerous awards and accolades, including multiple Emmy Awards, Golden Quill Awards, and Edward R. Murrow Awards, honoring his excellence, integrity, and lasting impact in the field of journalism; and
WHEREAS, in addition to his professional accomplishments, Rick Earle has been married to his wife, Jenny, for 37 years, and is a proud father of five grown children and grandfather to eight grandchildren; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED, that the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and commend Rick Earle for his extraordinary career, unwavering dedication to investigative journalism, and lasting service to the residents of Western Pennsylvania; and
