WHEREAS, Boy Scouts of America is one of the nation's largest and most prominent value-based youth development organizations, providing programs for young people that build character, trains them in the responsibilities of citizenship, and develops personal fitness; and,
WHEREAS, the highest honor that any Boy Scout can receive is the title of Eagle Scout. The designation "Eagle Scout" was founded over one hundred years ago, and only four percent of Boy Scouts are granted this rank after a lengthy review process; and,
WHEREAS, Eagle Scouts must plan and carry out a project focused on community service that benefits the greater public in some way; and,
WHEREAS, Henry Jon Adrian obtained the title of Eagle Scout on February 19, 2017, after successfully passing his Board of Review and completing his Eagle Scout Project; and,
WHEREAS, Henry Jon Adrian has been involved with Boy Scouts since the second grade and is also a parishioner of Holy Apostles Parish. Since fifth grade, Henry has been an altar server at Holy Apostles Parish, showing his faith and dedication through hours of service to the church community; and,
WHEREAS, Henry Jon Adrian is now a senior at Pittsburgh CAPA, and will attend the University of Pittsburgh Swanson School of Engineering in the fall of 2017. He is a member of both the National Honor Society and the Carrick High School Baseball team; and,
WHEREAS, Henry Jon Adrian's Eagle Scout Project was to create an outdoor picnic area for Holy Apostles Catholic Parish. Henry chose a location near the Faith Formation office where parishioners gather for meetings, festivals, and religious education. He cleared and leveled a 450 square foot area and added a gravel base, edging, and landscaping. In addition, Henry built four sets of picnic benches and tables by hand to complete the area; and,
