WHEREAS, the Youth Steering Committee of Humane Action Pennsylvania is dedicated to promoting compassion and environmental stewardship through hands-on projects that benefit both people and wildlife; and,
WHEREAS, “Youth for Humane Action Day,” encourages youth and families to champion compassion and create meaningful change through advocacy, education, and action that supports the well-being of animals in our shared environment; and,
WHEREAS, pollinators such as bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds are essential to the health of our ecosystems and play a vital role in sustaining food production and biodiversity; and,
WHEREAS, pollinator habitat loss, pesticide use, and climate change create an urgent need to support conservation; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Pittsburgh needs more spaces to promote ecological growth and support for animals; and,
WHEREAS, we must take action to support our local environments; and,
WHEREAS, a pollinator garden benefits everyone in the community; and,
WHEREAS, establishing pollinator gardens provides safe habitats, increases native plant growth, and educates community members, especially young people, about environmental responsibility and conservation; and,
WHEREAS, this initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to education, sustainability, and community engagement by inspiring others to take action in protecting our planet’s natural resources.

NOW, THEREFORE, IT BE RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh recognizes the dedication and hard work of the Youth Steering Committee of Humane Action Pennsylvania; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare November 18, 2025, as "YOUTH FOR HUMANE ACTION DAY” in the City of Pittsburgh.
