WHEREAS, Pittsburgh Allderdice High School, the largest of the Pittsburgh Public Schools' urban high schools, has drawn students from nine diverse communities and offers academic programs at all levels, complemented by a full range of interscholastic, intramural and co-curricular clubs and sports; and,
WHEREAS, Allderdice High School has had a proud athletic history , and this year has put a skilled and well coach basketball team on the court to compete against and beat New Castle, Beaver Falls, Lincoln Park and Mars in the regular season as well as teams in West Virginia, Atlanta and Philadelphia, beat Erie Central Tech, Penn Hills, WPIAL Champ Pine Richland , Carlisle and District 3 Champ Reading in the State Tourney, losing only in the final game to Philadelphia's Roman Catholic ; and,
WHEREAS, Allderdice High School finished the season with the best record in the history of the school, 28 Wins and 2 Losses. The team, coached by Head Coach Buddy Valinsky and Assistant Coaches Andy Pakler and Jeff Cohen is made up of 14 dedicated players who have worked hard to bring pride and respect to Allderdice Basketball and to themselves, They are Seniors Ramon Creighton, Tim Pugh, Tim Jackson, James Jackson, Dajuan Dugger, Lamone Dixon Jr., and Jordan Rawls as well as Jahi Ogbonna, Kenny Eleam, Lamar Todd, Tyler Williams, Naim Miller, Terrell Childs and Jackson Blaufeld.; and,
WHEREAS, always putting "team " first, the Allderdice Basketball Team has won the City League Championship 3 years in a row, been in the State Final 4 two years in a row, been Western Regional Champs for the first time ever and was the State Runner Up, the first time in school history to be in the final game. The camaraderie, team spirit and achievements of this team rallied students, teachers, parents and alumni from all over the country to travel to attend games and to follow the Dragons Boys BB Team to the State Finals, demonstrating an energy and excitement never before seen.
