Resolution authorizing PennDOT to request railroad crossing upgrades at South 4th Street from the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission in the 17th Ward, Council District 3, of the City of Pittsburgh.
Body
WHEREAS, South 4th Street is a public roadway under the jurisdiction of the City of Pittsburgh; and
WHEREAS, a railroad operates through the City of Pittsburgh, which railroad maintains a crossing over South 4th Street; and
WHEREAS, in order for the safety improvements to be made pertaining to the railroad crossing, those improvements must be submitted to the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission ("PUC") by and through the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation ("PennDOT");
NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Pittsburgh as follows:
1. The above-recited WHEREAS clauses are made a part of this Resolution as if restated here; and
2. PennDOT is authorized on behalf and for the City of Pittsburgh to request approval of the PUC to install or permit the installation of crossing upgrades, including, but not limited to, appropriate warning devices at the railroad crossing at South 4th Street in the City of Pittsburgh; and
3. PennDOT is authorized on behalf and for the City of Pittsburgh to request approval of the PUC to issue Notice to Proceed letters to the Railroad for design and/or construction at the railroad crossing at South 4th Street in the City of Pittsburgh.
