WHEREAS, Mrs. Rietta Logsdon has spent her entire life volunteering and helping others; and
WHEREAS, since 1990 Mrs. Rietta Logsdon has been volunteering her services to students, parents and staff of Thaddeus Stevens Elementary School; and
WHEREAS, at Stevens School, Rietta Logsdon, as "Grandma Rietta" as she is fondly known, always has a smile and positive attitude and is a friend to all; and
WHEREAS, "Grandma Rietta" has been involved in so many aspects of life at Stevens Elementary School, that it is hard to cover them all, but to cover a few they include but are not limited to:
v Assisting students in the extended Day and Summer School programs;
v Lunchroom aide;
v Classroom assistant;
v Parent Teacher Student Organization Officer;
v Community Advocate to parents and grandparents;
v Taking projects home evenings and week-ends to be sure every child is included and prepared for any activity planned by teachers;
v Scooping ice cream for the principals Ice Cream Socials;
v Tie Die activities in the After School Program;
v Making coffee for the social club each morning and always keeping the area clean and presentable.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh thanks and congratulates Mrs. Rietta Logsdon "Grandma Rietta" for her commitment and dedication to the students, faculty, parents and grand parents of Thaddeus Stevens Elementary School.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that Tuesday, June 6, 2006 is named 'GRANDMA RIETTA LOGSDON DAY" in the City of Pittsburgh.
