WHEREAS, the Eagle Scout Award is the highest rank attainable in the Boy Scouting program of the Boy Scouts of America; and
WHEREAS, to earn an Eagle Scout Award, one must earn at least twenty-one merit badges and demonstrate Scout Spirit through the Boy Scout Oath and Law, service, and leadership; and
WHEREAS, these qualities are demonstrated by an extensive service project that the Scout plans, organizes, leads and manages; and
WHEREAS, Brandon King O'Toole of Brookline Troop 6 earned his Eagle Scout Award on September 25, 2011; and
WHEREAS, over his Scouting career, Brandon has held the Scouting positions of Den Chief, Assistant Patrol Leader, Patrol Leader, and Senior Patrol Leader; and
WHEREAS, for his project, Brandon repaired phone and data lines, created a new conference room, and organized the renovation of the library at the Brookline Regional Catholic School; and
WHEREAS, Brandon's renovations make the school more technology-friendly for staff and more inviting for students; and
WHEREAS, Brandon recruited many volunteers, and over 600 hours were spent to complete the project; and
WHEREAS, Brandon was also academically successful and active at Seton-La Salle High school, where he was involved in the Audio Visual Department, stage crew and was a member of the soccer team; and
WHEREAS, Brandon was chosen as the Outstanding Catholic Student at the Brookline Regional Catholic School and received the American Legion Award; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT Pittsburgh City Council commends Brandon O'Toole for his outstanding commitment to service and community involvement; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the Council of the City of Pittsburgh declares Tuesday, September 27th, 2011 to be Brandon O'Toole Day in Pittsburgh.
