Title
WHEREAS, the Brashear Wrestling Team won it's fourth City League Championship in the past five seasons by defeating Langley 32-28 in the City League Championship match on February 1, 2007, at Langley High School; and
WHEREAS, Brashear defeated Allderdice High 36-33 in the semi-finals to advance to the championship; and
WHEREAS, two key victories in the finals were recorded by junior, Joshua Perri in the 125 pound weight class and by sophomore Derek Walker who sealed the championship in the final match of the evening in the 285 pound weight class; and
WHEREAS, the team finished the season with a 9-1 City League record and had 12 wins and 4 losses overall; and
WHEREAS, under the leadership of coaches Mr. Nathan W. Geller, Mr. Terrence Hanna, Sr. and Mr. Chaney Lewis the team continues to succeed at a high level; and
WHEREAS, the team was led throughout the season by co-captains James Barnaba, Joshua Perri and Daniel Duffy and team members Jonathan Hanna, Makisa Nyama, Damian Link, Vaughn Hall, Wayne Murphy, William Harper, Wolph Clark, Gemere Bey, Daniel Peters, Maurice Reynolds, William Stewart, Rashad Freeman, James Thomas, Derek Walker and Dan Romaniello all contributed to a fantastic season; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby congratulates the Brashear Wrestling Team on winning another City League Championship and commends them for their accomplishment.
