WHEREAS, the Church Brew Works opened its doors to the public in 1996 and has since developed into a premiere, nationally recognized craft brewery, neighborhood fixture, and regional asset; and,
WHEREAS, the Church Brew Works' founder and president, Sean Casey, has successfully repurposed an important, architecturally and culturally significant historic landmark property into a thriving modern commercial enterprise; and,
WHEREAS, the Church Brew Works' head brewer, Steve Sloan, has utilized his industry and artisanal expertise to brew multiple highly regarded and award-winning craft beers at the 2012 Great American Beer Festival; and,
WHEREAS, the Church Brew Works was awarded the title of Large Brewpub of the Year at the 2012 Great American Beer Festival; and,
WHEREAS, the Church Brew Works stands as a symbol of pride in its community and the City of Pittsburgh as a well-respected producer-purveyor of handcrafted beer and unparalleled and unique dining establishment.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby honor the Church Brew Works, its founder, head brewer, and all its able and admirable staff for their success in creating a business in which the City can take true pride; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare January 8, 2013, to be Church Brew Works Day in the City of Pittsburgh.
