WHEREAS, the residents of the City of Pittsburgh and the residents of Saitama City strive to acquire a consciousness of each other in order to understand one another as individuals, as members of the communities, as citizens of their country, and as part of the family of nations; and
WHEREAS, this understanding fosters the exchange of cultural, educational, social, scientific and commercial ideas between the two cities; and
WHEREAS, Greater Pittsburgh Sister Cities Association (GPSCA) and Saitama City Association for Global Awareness (SAGA) have helped foster these understandings; and
WHEREAS, the City of Pittsburgh is privileged to have The Saitama City Association for Global Awareness and those individuals working with them, who contribute to the diversity and culture of the ethnic heritage of the Japanese here in our City.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh recognizes this trip of cultural ambassadors to Saitama City and wishes for ever greater ties between us.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Monday, November 14, 2005 be hereby declared "Saitama City Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
