Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh commends all volunteers and supporters of the East Commons Playground project and does hereby proclaim Friday, October 1, 2004 as the "Day of Play" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, on Friday, October 1, 2004, East Commons Playground will be built in Allegheny Commons Park as a collective effort between private, non-profit and public organizations, and
 
WHEREAS, Home Depot, as part of its National Week of Service; KaBOOM!, a national non-profit organization committed to creating healthy play spaces for children by bringing together communities and businesses; the North Side Leadership Conference and local volunteers will join forces to build the state-of-the-art playground, and
 
WHEREAS, the building of East Commons playground will encourage physical activity, creativity, and provide a safe, fun environment for the betterment of local children who currently have no safe place to play, and
 
WHEREAS, additional funding partners for this project include the H.J. Heinz Company, the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, the East Allegheny Community Council, Winn Residential Allegheny Commons housing complex, and the Allegheny Center Alliance Church,
