Whereas, the Deborah Grand Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, Prince Hall Affiliation of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will converge in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for the 88th Annual Grand Session at the Hilton Pittsburgh & Towers Hotel; and
Whereas, the Deborah Grand Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, Prince Hall Affiliation of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is an organization that is highly spiritual, accepting of all faiths and denominations, and dedicated to the principles of charity, truth, and loving kindness. Since July 17th, 1916, this group has been comprised of good people who through uplifting and elevating associations of love and service have achieved a great deal in the betterment of their society; and
Whereas, the Order of the Eastern Star is at the forefront of combating many debilitating and deadly diseases, which is evidenced by the millions of dollars of support given to causes such as Cancer Research, Arthritis Foundation, Heart Association, Knights Templar Eye Foundation, and Shiners' Hospitals for Children; and
Whereas, the Order of the Eastern Star, seeing the importance and interdependence of education and strong community, have taken action to ensure these standards are upheld by contributing to such organizations as the United Negro College Fund, Education Wise Community, Cheyney University, the NAACP, the African American Museum, and 11 different scholarships; and
Whereas, the Order of the Easter Star realizes that American military veterans, because they have sacrificed so much, so selflessly, should never have to be made to go with out services necessary for living a happy life and therefore donates generously to fifteen Veterans Hospitals, Homes, and Centers.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does express its great appreciation to the Deborah Grand Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, Prince Hall Affiliation of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for its inspire...
