Resolution authorizing the Mayor and the Directors of the Department of Parks and Recreation and the Department of Public Works to enter into a License and Project Agreement with United Way of Allegheny County, a Pennsylvania non-profit corporation, to renovate Stargell Field in Homewood Park.

WHEREAS, the City currently owns Stargell Field (the “Field”) in the Homewood neighborhood of Pittsburgh; and
WHEREAS, United Way is a not-for-profit corporation whose purpose and mission is to strengthen the community by supporting organizations and programs aimed at improving the lives of children and adults in the Pittsburgh region, with a special emphasis on supporting youth programs focused on health, fitness and education; and
WHEREAS, United Way has offered to renovate the Field at no cost to the City, which work shall include field renovations and bleacher additions and replacement; and
WHEREAS, the parties now wish to enter into a License and Project Agreement to facilitate the aforementioned renovations to the Field.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PITTSBURGH AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1.
The Mayor and the Directors of the Department of Parks and Recreation and the Department of Public Works are authorized to enter into a License and Project Agreement or Agreements with United Way, a Pennsylvania non-profit corporation, to renovate Willie Stargell Field in Homewood. The License and Project Agreement(s) shall be approved by the City Solicitor as to form and substance.
