WHEREAS, Volunteers are invaluable resources to a community. At its core, volunteerism embodies a spirit of selflessness by individuals who willingly contribute their time, skills and resources; and,
WHEREAS, Teresa Kuehl is one such individual who has volunteered for over 20 years in the East Carnegie neighborhood of the City of Pittsburgh. Teresa designed and built the meditation garden at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church as well as the garden beds, taking much of the perennial plant stock from her own yard; and,
WHEREAS, in addition, she provided her time assisting with the annual St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church Festival for the past 20 years; and,
WHEREAS, erected by the people of the 16th Military Zone in honor of those who served in the World War 1917-1918, Teresa maintains the WWI memorial and parklet garden bed in West End Park; and
WHEREAS, when Vital Signs moved to Idlewood Avenue, Teresa managed the planting of their lot making it more appealing to visitors. She also lent her time and expertise on many neighbor's yards when she was able. She currently keeps an overflow garden of perennial plants to offer to neighbors or to welcome people to the neighborhood; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize Teresa Kuehl for her dedication to the East Carnegie neighborhood; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare, Tuesday, December 10, 2024 to be “Teresa Kuehl Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
