WHEREAS, Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh is celebrating 150 years of animal welfare services in the city of Pittsburgh; and,
WHEREAS, Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh helps to place on average 5,000 domestic animals into new homes each year; and,
WHEREAS, Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh also serves thousands of other animals in our region by offering low-cost veterinary services in their clinics; and,
WHEREAS, one of those low-cost veterinarian clinics operates on Western Ave, and the other on Hamilton Avenue; and,
WHEREAS, Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh also operates a Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in Verona that cares for and releases back into nature thousands of our region’s wildlife each year; and,
WHEREAS, Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh works with the City of Pittsburgh’s animal control services to help reunite pet owners with their pets and provide a safe environment for any stray animal within our community; and,
WHEREAS, on May 19th, 2024, Pittsburgh will celebrate Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh on its 150-year anniversary;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does commend Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh on their continued dedication to providing effective animal services and their impactful contributions to the city;
AND, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby declares Sunday, May 19th, 2024, to be “Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh Day” here in the City of Pittsburgh.
