Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Council of the City of Pittsburgh congratulates Gateway to the Arts on its Tap Into Art '09 Artfully Green Party and recognizes Gateway to the Arts and the event honorees for their outstanding support and leadership in providing and advancing arts and education in our region; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby declares May 8th, 2009, “Tap Into Art '09 Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, on Friday, May 8th, 2009 Gateway to the Arts will host Tap Into Art '09 at the Pittsburgh Golf Club; and
WHEREAS, Gateway to the Arts is a leader in arts in education initiatives throughout Western Pennsylvania; and
WHEREAS, Tap Into Art, an evening of performances and art-making, will honor Charlie Humphrey, Executive Director of Pittsburgh Filmmakers/Pittsburgh Center for the Arts, and the Pittsburgh Glass Center, and Dr. Rhonda Taliaferro, Principal of Pittsburgh CAPA High School for their contributions to arts education in Pittsburgh; and
WHEREAS, Tap Into Art '09 will feature a special performance by Etta Cox and Grammy performer and CAPA High School Student Andre Brown; and
WHEREAS, Tap Into Art '09 will present performances by Gateway artists Tom Breiding, Center of Life Jazz Band, Dr. Goddess, Resonance Percussion, and Celeta Hickman as well as interactive visual art projects with Cheryl Capezzuti, Alison Zapata, Wendy Osher, and Jennie Stephens.
WHEREAS, Tap Into Art '09 will highlight "Adopt a Classroom," an opportunity that allows individuals to make contributions to adopt a share of a classroom, in turn providing funds that place valuable art and music resources in the hands of local students.
