Resolution authorizing the Mayor and the Director of the Department of Public Works to enter into a Project Cooperation Agreement with the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy in connection with the conduct of a comprehensive street tree inventory for the City of Pittsburgh in 2014.

Body
Whereas, TreeVitalize Pittsburgh is a joint project of Allegheny County , the City of Pittsburgh , Tree Pittsburgh , PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources , and the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy ; and

Whereas, WPC currently manages TreeVitalize Pittsburgh and has received a grant from The Heinz Endowments to conduct a comprehensive street tree inventory for the City of Pittsburgh in 2014 (the “Tree Inventory Project”); and

Whereas, WPC has offered to engage a contractor and to manage the Tree Inventory Project on behalf of the City and Pittsburgh Shade Tree Commission (the “Commission”); and

Whereas, the City and Commission have agreed to cooperate with the WPC (collectively “the Project Partners”) by providing funding and co-project management to WPC in undertaking this endeavor.

Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Pittsburgh as follows:

Section 1. The Mayor and the Director of the Department of Public Works are hereby authorized to enter into a Project Cooperation Agreement with the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy (“WPC”), pursuant to which the WPC will provide funding through a grant from The Heinz Foundation, engage a consultant to conduct the Tree Inventory Project, and provide co-project management services. The City/Pittsburgh Shade Tree Commission are authorized to provide funding in an amount not to exceed one-half (1/2) of the cost of the Tree Inventory Project or One Hundred Thousand Dollars ($100,00...
