Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby congratulate Remember When for its 50 years of business; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Friday, July 30, 2010, to be “Memory Cone Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Remember When is the home of the largest ice cream cone in Pittsburgh and has been part of a 50 year tradition of ice cream in the Windgap area; and
 
WHEREAS, originally built to be used as a barbershop in 1960, it was soon converted into a soft serve ice cream stand and in 1991 Mary Gettel purchased the building and renamed the ice cream shop to "Remember When" and has become a full service ice cream store including hot foods and unique ice cream flavors only found at Remember When; and,
 
WHEREAS, Remember When celebrates Christmas in July with music, "Oldies Night" every Friday, customer participation days and fun events, such as hoola hoop contests, and outdoor sock hops, just to name a few; and,  
 
WHEREAS, Remember When has been featured on Dave Crawley's "KD Country" on KDKA news and in the Pittsburgh Post Gazette as a fresh find and has been listed in Lifestyles "A Guide to Best Ice Cream Shops in the Pittsburgh Area"; and,
 
WHEREAS, Remember When will be sponsoring its annual "Blessing of the Bikes" with Father Lou Valone on Friday, July 30, 2010 at 7:00 p.m.; and,
