Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Darrin Kelly for being named Democrat of the Year and for his Public Safety service to the City of Pittsburgh; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare, Wednesday, October 30, 2019 to be "Darrin Kelly Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Darrin Kelly has been awarded Democrat of the Year by the Allegheny County Democratic Committee; and,

 

WHEREAS, in December of 2017, Darrin Kelly was sworn into the presidency of the Allegheny-Fayette Central Labor Council (CLC); and,

 

WHEREAS, as a veteran of the United States Navy, during his first year as President, he formed the first CLC Union Veteran’s Council in the Commonwealth whose members make up some of the most critical jobs in our nation and he is making their stories known; and,

 

WHEREAS, prior to being elected President, he served as Vice President for 9 years and served as the Political and Legislative Director for the Pittsburgh Fire Fighters Local 1; and,

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Kelly has been an active Fire Fighter for the City of Pittsburgh for over 19 years and has served as a National CPR Instructor; and,

 

WHEREAS, he also continues to serve on many committees including, but not limited to, Vice-President of the Fire Fighters Pension Board, Co-Chair of the Three Rivers Area Labor Management Committee, Partners4Work Board of Directors and Secretary of the 31st Ward Democratic Committee; and,

 

WHEREAS, Darrin has been a lifelong resident of the City of Pittsburgh and is a loving father to his beautiful daughters, Olivia and Sara; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Darrin Kelly for being named Democrat of the Year and for his Public Safety service to the City of Pittsburgh; and,

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare, Wednesday, October 30, 2019 to be “Darrin Kelly Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
