Title
Resolution authorizing the Urban Redevelopment Authority of Pittsburgh to submit an Application for Financial Assistance in the amount of up to $3,600,000 to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development for the operation and administration of certain programs. (Council Districts: All).
Body
Whereas, the Urban Redevelopment Authority of Pittsburgh ("Authority") administers the Community Development Investment Fund, Streetface Program, Pittsburgh Housing Construction Fund, Neighborhood Housing Program, Urban Development Fund and Housing Recovery Program (the "Programs"); and
Whereas, the Authority wishes to obtain financial assistance from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in the amount of $3,600,000 for the Programs; and
Whereas, the Authority has prepared the DCED Single Application for Assistance under the under the FY 2001-2002 Communities of Opportunity Program which is available at the Authority's offices; and
Whereas, the Authority has indicated in the aforesaid Application that Pittsburgh Home Ownership Program, Community Development Block Grant, UDAG and private funds will be provided by the City of Pittsburgh as the local share of project costs; and
Whereas, the City of Pittsburgh and the Authority are desirous of obtaining funds from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development for the prevention and elimination of blight under Section 4(c) of the Housing and Redevelopment Assistance Law, as amended.
Be it Resolved that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. The Authority is hereby authorized to file a Single Application for Assistance with DCED for a grant in the amount of up to $3,600,000 in order to provide funding for the Programs and administration thereof.
