WHEREAS, since 1945, Pittsburgh Center for the Arts has been an anchor of the Pittsburgh arts community; and,
WHEREAS, Pittsburgh Center for the Arts encourages artistic growth among artists of all ages and abilities through exceptional educational programs in the visual arts; and,
WHEREAS, Pittsburgh Center for the Arts hosts a variety of exhibitions that showcase the work of our region’s finest artists, and strengthen Pittsburgh’s contemporary art scene, making art accessible to the community; and,
WHEREAS, Pittsburgh Center for the Arts provides professional development programs for artists, which foster artistic collaboration and provide artists with skills to create a career in the arts; and,
WHEREAS, on August 30th, the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts will host ARTogether to celebrate 70 years of service to the Pittsburgh community.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize Pittsburgh Center for the Arts for fostering artistic expression in Pittsburgh and promoting a vibrant contemporary art scene; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare August 30, 2015 to be “Pittsburgh Center for the Arts 70th Anniversary Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
