Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh acknowledge the members of Teutonia Männerchor for their dedication to keeping such a strong and cherished tradition alive and flourishing.

WHEREAS, the Teutonia Männerchor was founded in 1854 by Reverend Carl Weitershausen under the direction of Andreas Knauff; and
 
WHEREAS, on February 24, 1886 under the leadership of president Henry Bergmann the property of the St. Peter's congregation became the new location for Teutonia Männerchor, and it remains the location today; and
 
WHEREAS, the official dedication of the hall took place on October 15, 1888.  That day, ten men were honored as the first members of Teutonia Männerchor.  They were Christ Weier, John Heckel, Peter Herdt, Joseph Lantner, J.C. Lappe, John G. Walter, Henry Gerwig, Theo Straub, Joseph Bruening, and John Luckhaupt; and
 
WHEREAS, it is generally agreed that Teutonia Männerchor is now the leading German and social choral society in Western Pennsylvania due to its proud history of precious heritage of song, music, and German Culture, a heritage that members reverently uphold and pass on from generation to generation; and
 
WHEREAS, during the weekend of August 27th, 28th, and 29th, Teutonia Männerchor will invite the public to the club for the first time in its 150 year history;
