Title: NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh, recognizes the great contributions the Beth Shalom Men's Club has made to the quality of life at the Congregation Beth Shalom and in our great city. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh, on behalf of the citizens of our great city, proclaim Sunday, February 26, 2006 "Beth Shalom Men's Club Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

Whereas, the Congregation Beth Shalom is a vital part of the Squirrel Hill community, providing citizens with a traditional, Conservative Jewish synagogue, a school of instruction, a vibrant community center, a preschool, and a cemetery for those of the Jewish faith; and
 
Whereas, the Congregation remains committed to the development of the whole Jewish person, both in Pittsburgh and the nation of Israel; and
 
Whereas, the Beth Shalom Men's Club, under the leadership of President Dr. Joseph Trompeter, exemplifies the spirit of the great Jewish faith through its commitment to the synagogue and the local community, including the Men's Club Shabbat, a Hebrew literacy program, gifts for bar mitzvah, weekly hospital visits, physical and financial assistance for synagogue projects, and a lecture series; and
 
Whereas, the Men's Club's Mitzvah of Tikun Olam, or "Healing the World," has resulted in the development of the Annual Sports Luncheon, one of our city's most cherished events, whereby our great sports tradition is celebrated by local broadcasters, professional, college, and high school athletes and over 300 special needs individuals; and
 
Whereas, the charitable work of the Beth Shalom Men's Club inspires us all to create a kinder, more compassionate community; and

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh, recognizes the great contributions the Beth Shalom Men's Club has made to the quality of life at the Congregation Beth Shalom and in our great city.
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh, on behalf of the citizens of our great city, proclaim Sunday, February 26, 2006 "Beth Shalom Men's Club Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
