WHEREAS, the Pittsburgh Commission on Human Relations investigates complaints of alleged discrimination in employment, housing, and public accommodation within the City of Pittsburgh. In addition to investigating civil rights violations, the Pittsburgh Commission on Human Relations also conducts community education and other outreach programs for schools, community groups, businesses, professional organizations and City departments to promote equal rights and opportunities for all who work, live or visit our city; and,
WHEREAS, Charlie Morrison, has served as Director of the Pittsburgh Commission on Human Relations since 1995, exemplifying qualities of an outstanding leader, often going above and beyond all expectations; and,
WHEREAS, for over 40 years, Mr. Morrison has committed countless hours investigating allegations of discriminatory measures, and along with the Commission, has successfully become an agent of change in resolving issues of unfair and unjust practices; and,
WHEREAS, in addition to his duties of ensuring equality for all city residents, Mr. Morrison is a proud father to his two children, Charles and Julia, and loyal husband to his wife Stephanie; and,
WHEREAS, even after his retirement, Mr. Morrison has affirmed his commitment in continuing his efforts to eliminate all forms of discrimination in Pittsburgh, in order to make this city the best place to live for all of its citizens; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and congratulate Charlie Morrison on his much deserved retirement from the City of Pittsburgh, and thanks him for his dedicated years of service, and wishes him many happy years of retirement; and,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare, Tuesday, March 11, 2014 to be Charlie Morrison Day in the City of Pittsburgh.
