WHEREAS, Margo Kimble founded Pittsburgh Girls Who Walk in 2022 in order to provide a safe space for women of all ages to walk; and,

WHEREAS, Pittsburgh Girls Who Walk meet at a new location every Sunday in order to safely show off the City of Pittsburgh. Events held throughout the month help keep the community engaged and support local businesses and organizations; and,
WHEREAS, most recently the group organized a charitable walk starting at the Highland Park Reservoir benefiting the American Cancer Society; and,
WHEREAS, although their primary focus is providing a safe space to walk, the group has turned into a close-knit community that enjoys meetups such as a crafting meetup, supper club or their WFH meetups. The group creates a way to make connections with others that may not have been made otherwise; and,
WHEREAS, Pittsburgh Girls Who Walk is also a pet friendly environment and welcomes all four-legged walkers; and,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize Pittsburgh Girls Who Walk and commend them for providing a safe environment for women to see our city; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare, Tuesday, April 2, 2024 to be “Pittsburgh Girls Who Walk Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
