WHEREAS, Raymond V. DeMichiei, Deputy Coordinator of Emergency Management for the City of Pittsburgh, will be retiring after 41 years of service to the City of Pittsburgh; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. DeMichiei grew up in Plum Borough, where he graduated from Plum High School before attending college at the University of Pittsburgh; and,
WHEREAS, while in high school, Mr. DeMichiei belonged to the Renton Fire Department and Holiday Park Ambulance; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. DeMichiei first joined the City’s Emergency Medical Services team in 1975 as one of the first paramedics hired by the City; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. DeMichiei received a promotion to Crew Chief in 1979, where he went on to work both on a medic unit and a rescue truck; and,
WHEREAS, in October of 1980, Mr. DeMichiei left EMS after receiving an appointment to Public Safety Inspector under Public Safety Administration, a position he held until 1988, when he received his current appointment of Deputy Coordinator of Emergency Management; and,
WHEREAS, as a father of one daughter and grandfather of one grandson, Raymond V. DeMichiei looks forward to spending time with his family during retirement; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare June 28, 2016 to be “Raymond V. DeMichiei Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
