WHEREAS, Arlene Saavedra (maiden name: Gilmore) is celebrating a momentous milestone of 90 years Sunday, March 15th in the year of our Lord 2026; and
WHEREAS, Arlene has been a resident of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for 90 years, she grew up in Elmore Square in the Hill District of Pittsburgh at a time before modern refrigeration where residents relied on the old-fashioned ice trucks and milk truck deliveries. She attended grade school at the A. Leo Weil school and later, 5th avenue high school graduating in 195; and,
WHEREAS, in 1960 she was married to Joaquin Saavedra and together they had 6 children. She has been a Godly representation of Kingdom principles which includes, humbly serving the Lord Jesus Christ, showing compassion for others and being a faithful steward over the things she is entrusted with; and,
WHEREAS, throughout her remarkable life, Arlene has contributed to the betterment of our society by raising the next generation to love the Lord our God, to walk according his commandments and to respect and love their neighbors. She has faithfully served alongside her husband in the ministry as Superintendent of the Sunday school department; and,
WHEREAS, she has traveled door to door evangelizing and cleaning the homes of the elderly. She later returned to her grade school, A. Leo Weil as a tutor to help young students with reading. Her gift in the Prophetic and Intercessory Prayer, in which she currently still operates has helped many people who were going through difficult places in life; and,
WHEREAS, Arlene is an exceptional homemaker, seamstress, cook and baker, known for her baked goods, which are still in high demand. Her children, grandchildren, other relatives and friends have witnessed decades of history, offering an enduring legacy of faithfulness, strength, humility, resilience and integrity to generations; and,
