• Title: NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Steel Valley Enterprise Zone Corporation is designated as the agency to prepare appropriate applications to the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development for Enterprise Zone Designation and Basic Grant Funding on behalf of the cooperating municipalities. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby endorse the application of the Corporation to the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development for continued Enterprise Zone Designation and Basic Grant Funding and engage the Steel Valley Enterprise Zone Corporation to act for and on behalf of the parties in handling all aspects of the Enterprise Zone Program for activities to be funded in the amount of $50,000 by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development.

WHEREAS, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, through the Department of Community and Economic Development, offers the Enterprise Zone Program to municipalities suffering from economic dislocation, loss of businesses and jobs and declining tax base; and

WHEREAS, the Steel Valley Enterprise Zone Corporation has participated in the State Enterprise Zone Program designed to create business development, the development of new jobs and priority access to State programs; and

WHEREAS, the City of Pittsburgh desires to continue participation in the State Enterprise Zone Program which includes the 31st Ward of the City of Pittsburgh and the Boroughs of Homestead, Munhall and West Homestead so as to promote development, job creation and the enhancement of the tax base; and

WHEREAS, the Department of Community and Economic Development has encouraged intergovernmental cooperation and economic development and job creation in the Monongahela Valley area; and

WHEREAS, the Department of Community and Economic Development has invited the parties to submit an application for funding to undertake Enterprise Zone development activities; and

WHEREAS, the Steel Valley Enterprise Zone Corporation is prepared to develop the application and the proper documents for continued Enterprise Zone Designation and Basic Grant funding to assist development activities in the area; and

WHEREAS, the Corporation is prepared to submit said application on behalf of the parties; and
