Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend and congratulate Eagle Scout Eric Hirschfeld for his outstanding achievement of attaining the rank of Eagle Scout; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Monday, October 8, 2012, to be “Eric T. Hirschfeld Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, the Eagle Scout Award is the highest rank in Scouting of which only 4 percent of youth earn and is based on performances in the areas of responsibility, leadership, service and outdoor skills; and,
 
WHEREAS, Eric T. Hirschfeld achieved the rank of Eagle Scout on Monday, October 8, 2012 at the Eagle Scout Court of Honor of Troop 66 at Trinity AME Zion Church in Sheraden; and,
 
WHEREAS, for his final project to obtain Eagle Scout, Eric organized a group of scouts and volunteers to paint the hallways and cafeteria of St. Margaret of Scotland's Church in Green Tree Borough which he completed during his Christmas Holiday break; and,    
 
WHEREAS, Eric was a Cub Scout for four years and graduated from the Cub Scouts with the Arrow of Light Award and is currently in Boy Scout Troop 66 of the Greater Pittsburgh Council where he has been for 7 years and has held the position of Scribe and Chaplain's Aide and has assisted in scouting projects outside of the Troop as well; and,
 
WHEREAS, Eric graduated from Bishop Canevin High School in 2012 where he kept a challenging academic schedule, participated in the Interact Club, a service organization, was a member of the Football, Swimming, and Track Teams, as well as participating in the school musicals each year and currently attends the University of Pittsburgh, Johnstown;  and,
