WHEREAS, Pradeep K. Khosla is presently the Dean of the College of Engineering, Phillip and Marsha Dowd University Professor in the College of Engineers and School of Computer Science, and Founding Director of CyLab at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU); and
WHEREAS, on July 14, Khosla will be honored by the Pittsburgh chapter of the Network of Indian Professionals with the Indian Community Impact Award; and
WHEREAS, Khosla received his masters degree and doctorate in electrical and computer engineering in 1986 from CMU, and has risen to the highest rank attainable by a Professor at the University; and become a top administrator, researcher and fundraiser; and
WHEREAS, Khosla is an honored scholar, an innovative educator, and an entrepreneurial leader with a global vision and proven fundraising abilities who was recently appointed the new Chancellor of the University of California at San Diego; and
WHEREAS, Khosla's work has played an integral role in the rise of Pittsburgh as a technological and educational leader.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize the important contributions that Pradeep K. Khosla has made to the City of Pittsburgh and its status as a world-class leader in technology and education; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare July 10, 2012 to be "Pradeep K. Khosla Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
