Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the council of the City of Pittsburgh congratulates Reverend Miro Stelmaszczyk on being Polonian of the Year 2004; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that August 3, 2004 is declared "FATHER MIRO DAY" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Reverend Miro Stelmaszczyk is being honored a Polonian of the Year 2004 by the Polish Cultural Council; and
 
WHEREAS, Reverend Miro Stelmaszczyk better known as "Father Miro", was ordained as a Catholic Priest in Poland 27 years ago; and
 
WHEREAS, Father Miro came to the United States of America in 1986 speaking only the Polish language; and
 
WHEREAS, in 1998 Father Miro began serving as pastor of Holy Family in Creighton, Pennsylvania; and
 
WHEREAS, Father Miro has tirelessly served the parishioners of Holy Family and is a tremendous ambassador for all Polish Americans; and
 
WHEREAS, a small sampling of the work done by Father Miro includes: delivering a monthly Mass in the Polish language at St. Peter's on the North Side of Pittsburgh, energizing each Fish Dinner at Holy Family during lent and leading one of the largest annual church festivals in Western Pennsylvania for Holy Family at the Syria Shrine (this year's is on August 8);and
 
WHEREAS, Father Miro is most deserving of being honored by the Polish Cultural Council as Polonian of the Year 2004;
