WHEREAS, in recognition of Brian Crawford, Amazon PIT5 Site Lead; Sarah Karachristos, Senior PXT Business Partner; Nate Hubert, Senior Operations Manager; and Samoan Lee, former PIT5 Learning Trainer and current Site Lead with the CXO Amazon Returns Center, who for the past five years have supported-and continue to support-the Bowers family in promoting Domestic Violence Awareness; and
WHEREAS, PIT 5 and Corporate have an internal training concerning Domestic Violence. This training includes Colleen Bowers story that went global internally within Amazon in memory of her daughter and mom-of-two Melissa, who was murdered by her ex-boyfriend in 2012; and
WHEREAS, Amazon PIT5 have led the way of bringing Domestic Violence Awareness and help to the Center for Victims with projects, coats and other needs including financial donations; and
WHEREAS, whenever Colleen presents a need to them for the Center for Victims they have answered the call. Including 30 coats that were needed last year as an emergency; and
WHEREAS, they also coordinated the pickup of 7.5 pallets of blankets purchased through Colleen Bowers' "You Are Not Alone" campaign, enlisted volunteer associates from PIT5 to pack them, and covered the shipping costs. Although no longer with PIT5, Amazon employee Samoan Lee also personally transported many of the blankets to designated locations; and
WHEREAS, Amazon has an 8'x10' signage for their employees to reference the services for Domestic Violence if needed, featuring the global story of the Bowers family and their loss through Domestic Violence; and

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize Amazon PIT5 and their outstanding commitment, compassion, and unwavering dedication to supporting survivors of domestic violence and raising Domestic Violence Awareness within our community; and
