Resolution authorizing the Mayor and Chief of Innovation and Performance to enter into a Fellowship Participation Agreement with Student Conservation Association, Inc., cost not to exceed $13,000.
Body
WHEREAS, SCA operates a national conservation corps program for the purpose of providing conservation-service experiences to young people from around the United States, to perform important natural, recreational, cultural and historic resource management work for federal, state, county and municipal agencies and for non-profit organizations; and
WHEREAS, in 2008 the SCA developed a Green Cities Sustainability Corps to assist Pittsburgh in the creation and implementation of local climate action plans; and
WHEREAS, the SCA Green Cities Sustainability Corps provides internships to Corps Members ("the Program"), in which interns are placed at government or non-profit entities to carry out a range of sustainability related projects; and
WHEREAS, the City wishes to engage one SCA Green Cities Sustainability Corp Member as a Sustainability Fellow (the "Fellowship") to carry out such projects; and
WHEREAS, the total cost for the City to engage a Sustainability Fellow for a nine-month term is Thirteen Thousand Dollars ($13,000).
Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Pittsburgh as follows:
Section 1. The Mayor and Director of Innovation and Performance are hereby authorized to enter into a Fellowship Participation Agreement with Student Conservation Association, Inc. at a cost not to exceed Thirteen Thousand Dollars ($13,000), which shall be payable from the following account number: 1020288500. The Fellowship Participation Agreement shall be approved by the City Solicitor as to form and substance.
