WHEREAS, the Lebanese-American community of Our Lady of Victory Maronite Catholic Church has served Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania for more than a century since its founding in 1902 and is currently under the guidance of Reverend Rodolph Wakim; and,
WHEREAS; the Maronite spirituality, liturgy and traditions come from Antioch-Edessa, Syria and for the Maronite, to pray is to live, and to live is to pray; and,
WHEREAS, the Maronite Lebanese-American community has become famous for their culinary achievements which they will offer at the annual Pittsburgh Lebanese Food Festival Friday through Sunday, September 11 through the 13th, 2015 at Our Lady of Victory Maronite Catholic Church located at 1000 Lindsay Road in Carnegie; and,
WHEREAS, in Lebanon, eating is directly related to family; hence, the festival will be a fun gathering of family and friends and great food such as Kibbee, Grape Leaves, Spinach Pies, Lebanese Pastries and much more; and,
WHEREAS, in addition, there will be live entertainment by Arabic singer Tony Mikhael, several performances by the Lebanese Children's Dance Group, and their first annual Village Night to be held on Friday, where you are encouraged to bring your own instrument; and,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend and honor the Lebanese-American community of Our Lady of Victory Maronite Catholic Church for their selfless service to the residents of the City of Pittsburgh; and,

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare, September 11-13, 2015, to be “Lebanese-American Days” in the City of Pittsburgh.
