Whereas, the Pittsburgh Live Music will be performing September 25, 2004 at the Synod Hall in Oakland as one of five concerts this season ; and
Whereas, the Pittsburgh Live Music is a classical chamber orchestra, live music booking service and music instruction program; and
Whereas, in Spring of 2004, the Guitar Society of Fine Art launched Pittsburgh Live Music, a new social enterprise venture that serves the community through music by recruiting, training, and placing young and emerging musicians in public private and corporate performance settings; and
Whereas, the project aims to alleviate the out-migration of young talent from the region and the field of music by soliciting diverse performance opportunities for them; and
Whereas, Pittsburgh Live Music will provide undergraduates and recent graduates from area schools with an avenue for marketing their skills to the local community, and
Whereas, demo recordings, brochures, a presence on the internet, advertising, and career development workshops are just some of the services that will help to this skilled group of individuals make the transition from "Music Student" to "Professional Musician"; and
Whereas, Pittsburgh Live Music is a project that can assist this region in retaining its young talent by providing the region with a non-profit music booking agency that is primarily focused on providing the professional training and experience that upcoming musicians need beyond their educational training; and

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend the Pittsburgh Live Music for providing young musicians an opportunity to advance in their profession, also enhance the quality and quantity of music available to this city.
