WHEREAS, through its more than 20-year history, Rebuilding Together Pittsburgh has repaired and rehabilitated more than 2,000 homes by bringing volunteers and communities together to create safe and healthy homes; and
WHEREAS, the organization has alleviated some of the economic burdens associated with homeownership by providing more than $13 million in critical services such as repair, renovation, and modification services; and
WHEREAS, many recipients of Rebuilding Together Pittsburgh’s services are seniors and veterans who live near the federal poverty line in multiple neighborhoods throughout the City of Pittsburgh, including Hazelwood, the Hill District, Homewood, Larimer, and Sheraden.
WHEREAS, on October 23, 2015, Rebuilding Together Pittsburgh will hold their annual IMPACT Gala fundraiser at the Heinz History Center. The event will be a celebration of all the great work that was accomplished in 2015 and allow guests to help secure critical funds while they enjoy dinner, live music and entertainment, and silent and live auctions.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Pittsburgh hereby recognizes and commends the continued commitment of Rebuilding Together Pittsburgh to improving the quality of life of residents across the City through its support of homeowners; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Pittsburgh hereby declares Friday, October 23, 2015 to be “REBUILDING TOGETHER PITTSBURGH DAY” in the City of Pittsburgh.
