WHEREAS, the Carrick Tree Tenders are a volunteer organization dedicated to the beautification of the Carrick neighborhood; and
WHEREAS, the Carrick Tree Tenders have planted over eighty trees in Carrick over the past four years, and anticipate planting two dozen more in the coming months; and
WHEREAS, their thirteen tree tenders will begin work this year on May 19th, meeting once a month to care for the trees and tree plots of Carrick; and
WHEREAS, the Carrick Tree Tenders' season ends with Mulch Madness in October, where the tree plots are mulched for the winter.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh commends the Carrick Tree Tenders for their tireless work beautifying the Carrick community; and
THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, April 3, 2012 to be Carrick Tree Tenders Day in the City of
Pittsburgh.
